Working closely with Hallam’s of Leicester Envirotreat were able to offer a unique remediation strategy for the remediation of a former steel works to facilitate a new commercial development for the site . Several remediation strategies were considered which involved either the treatment or disposal of several thousand cubic metres of hydrocarbon impacted soils beneath the existing floor slab. Envirotreat were able to design and gain approval for the construction of an E-Clay Permeable Reactive Barrier to protect off-site receptors. The resultant remediation costs were a fraction of the associated treatment / disposal costs and saved further cost and time by negating the need to excavate and remove from site the existing foundry floor slab. Envirotreat were able to demonstrate the success of the remediation by groundwater monitoring following remediation.
