Working with Thomas Vale, Envirotreat designed and implemented a remediation strategy to enable the development of a residential site in Birmingham. The site was contaminated with hydrocarbons associated with the former usage of the site as a lock / ironmongery manufacturer. Envirotreat developed a suitable remediation strategy (in conjunction with Ground Investigation and Piling) to satisfy the requirements of the Birmingham City Council and the Environment Agency. The remediation strategy comprised of a combination of in-situ and ex-situ E-Clay stabilisation of identified contaminated “hotspots” together with the installation of a soil mixed E-Clay / reductive barrier to treat chlorinated hydrocarbon impacted groundwater and residual TPH / PAH contamination.
