Completed last month the removal of several underground solvent tanks from a site in Wales.
The works were complicated by the requirements for partial demolition of part of the existing buildings to facilitate the safe removal of the tanks and their contents.
Envirotreat used their extensive experience and onsite monitoring / testing to evaluate and stockpile waste to minimise expensive hazardous waste disposal costs. This involved manual removal of hotspots to maximise the amount of material which could be recycled. Envirotreat classified all waste based on comprehensive laboratory testing prior to removal from site.
In total Envirotreat diverted 3,700 tonne of non-hazardous waste to local recycling, with a further 180 tonne of non-hazardous waste going to landfill as it was not suitable for recycling.
Only 1.14 tonnes of hazardous waste was generated and a small quantity of cement bound asbestos associated with the demolition works.
