Legendre (Jersey) has been successful in their bid to become the developer for the prestigious Westward Development at South Hill, Jersey. The development requires the excavation and disposal of around 30,000 m3 of surplus soil from the site. Envirotreat was engaged by Legendre to provide a detailed assessment of the soil on site to fully assess contamination issues in accordance with the stringent requirements of La Collette, the only disposla site on Jersey. The work entailed excavation of 53 trial pits across the site on a 10m grid with representative soil samples collected at every 1m depth. In addition, on site analysis using a hand held XRF and PID enabled the sample numbers and types to be optimised. Sample analysis and teh resukkting soil waste classificationcconfirmed materials that were appropriate for treatment and reuse, materials for reuse only and the majority for disposal at La Collette as INERT for appropriate recycing and beneficial re-use on the island.
