Envirotreat was commissioned to undertake the safe removal of a number of underground solvent storage tanks at a facility in Wales.
Envirotreat proposed a phased programme of exposure of the tanks, through the removal of overlying concrete to ascertain the most appropriate methodology for decommissioning in terms of safety and waste management.
On completion of the works, Envirotreat through the effective waste management and segregation, less than 2 tonne of waste was classified as hazardous.
The majority of the tank fill and surrounds (2,150 tonnes) was assessed and classified as non-hazardous and these materials were removed off site to a local recycling facility for beneficial re-use.
