Site Investigation for a New Residential Development – Belgrave Middleway, Birmingham
The £112 millions Belgrave Village scheme is an exciting new contemporary community in Birmingham city centre: 438 energy-efficient houses and apartments are set amongst extensive new open space, with a fully equipped gym, co-working space and screening room.
Maps from 1950s show a number of developments on the site, including a diecast works in the northwestern corner, a timber yard in the northeast corner, furniture works across the central and eastern parts of the site and a light engineering works in the southeastern part of the site.
The site was completely redeveloped by the mid-1970s, with the Mount Pleasant Primary School and community centre constructed across the south of the site. These works included significant earthworks to relevel the site and form a number of slopes. Maps from 1989-1992 show a football pitch in the northwestern part of the site and a sports centre in the north of the site.
Envirotreat was engaged by the site owners to carry out a detailed intrusive site investigation at the former brownfield site in Birmingham.

The Site Investigation formed part of the planning submission.
The site investigation work was carried out in full accordance to current British Standards.
This included 33 trial pits, 9 gas wells and subsequent rounds of monitoring and sampling.

Envirotreat also undertake capping layer validation on completion.
